Tuner to revive the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale on Ferrari tech

British company PPW has announced an intention to resurrect the iconic Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale from the 1960s, keeping it the same size as the original but upgrading it to a new chassis, aluminum bodywork and a 4.2-liter Ferrari engine. Only 33 examples will be made, each priced from £540,000.

The original idea to bring back the Italian racing legend belongs to David Hutchinson. Around five years ago, the car collector commissioned a replica of a classic Alfa Romeo from PPW. You can find it in the video here. According to PistonHeads, the company was inspired by this one-off project and decided to take it to the next level.

The replica rides on a custom chassis, benefits from purpose-designed Gazzmatic International shock absorbers and has powerful, but not power-assisted Wilwood brakes. PPW highlights a lack of electronic assists among the most important features of the car. Following the same design logic, it forgoes power steering to stay as close to the spirit of the original as possible.

All power comes from a 4.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 with a dry sump. This particular engine is of Ferrari make and can be found in the Ferrari F430, as well as in one of the Maserati Quattroporte variants. Coupled with a manual transmission, it sends 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) to the wheels in this particular configuration. PPW doesn’t disclose any dynamic numbers, but claims that the whole car weighs no more than a metric ton (2,205 lbs).
