3rd-gen Nissan Leaf revealed with full specs

Nissan has formally introduced the third Leaf generations. Sales in the United States will start this fall, with Europe and Japan set to follow later.

The cheapest version of the electric car now makes 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) and 345 Nm (254 lb-ft) from a single motor. A 52.9-kWh battery pack supplies the power. If you would like more acceleration and range, the top spec has 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW), 355 Nm (262 lb-ft) and 75 kWh of energy storage.

Both versions max out at 160 km/h (100 miles per hour). Charging from 10 to 80 percent full takes 35 minutes, and it helps that the U.S. version of the Leaf comes outfitted with a NACS-standard charging port for Tesla Supercharger stations.

A peek inside reveals a squared steering wheel, a fairly compact center console and tactile buttons on the dash. The infotainment system now displays its UI on two screens sized either 12.3 or 14.3 inches large depending on your chosen trim level. A Bose audio system with speakers built into the headrests is optional. For the first time on record, the Leaf will be available with a dimmable panoramic roof.

Nissan claims that the EV has a very low-drag profile – certified at 0.26 Cd in the USA and 0.25 in Europe. The American version is 4,405 mm (172.07 inches) long, the Japanese one is slightly shorter at 4,360 mm (170.3 inches), and the European one is the shortest with 4,350 mm (170 inches) of total body length. The height amounts to 1,550 mm (60.5 inches) for all variants with the U.S. one being only 7 mm (1/4 inch) taller, and the wheelbase is identical at 2,690 mm (105.08 inches).

Trunk size can be either 420 or 437 liters (14.83 or 15.43 cubic feet). The curb weight varies from 1,794 to 1,982 kilograms depending on options chosen (3,955–4,370 lbs).
