Acura’s last sedan bows out of production

The Japanese premium automaker has declared an end of production for the TLX on July 31. With the sedan gone, Acura’s lineup will consist solely of SUVs and the Integra liftback. The reason? Low demand, as usual.

According to a message from the manufacturer, customers worldwide tend to increasingly prefer SUVs these days. As a result, both the regular TLX and its performance-focused, all-wheel-drive Type S version are on their way out.

The current version of the car ships with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and a 3.0-liter V6 capable of 355 PS (350 hp / 261 kW). Prices in the United States start from $45,400.

The TLX lineup was born in 1995 and was originally called simply “TL”. It has gone through multiple generations over these 30 years and sold nearly 1.2 million units worldwide. Sales have been falling from 2021 onwards. Acura found 26,100 buyers for the TLX that year, but couldn’t even manage 7,500 three years later. Based on the sales performance data from the first half of 2025, the model would’ve continued on its downward spiral, so it made sense to kill it off.

With the last Acura sedan gone, the company says it will try to fill in the gap by adding more SUVs to the lineup. The compact-sized ADX introduced last year is already on sale, and a coupe-like RSX EV is slated to arrive in 2026.
