Omoda C7 becomes the new Chery Tiggo 7 Plus for China

Chery is getting a new Tiggo 7 Plus ready to rumble on the domestic market, AutoHome.cn reports pointing out a recent certification entry in the Ministry of Industry database. If the photos are any indication, the car is a rebadged Omoda C7 for China.

Like the C7, the new Tiggo 7 Plus has a distinct elevation in its shoulder line near the c-pillar area. It also has the same overall body outlines, the same rear end shape and front end design. The radiator grille and front bumper are new, and those vertical bumper inserts are something that the C7 lacks, but that’s about it for the differences.

The vehicle is sized 4,655 x 1,880 x 1,690 mm large with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. As such, it’s only 125 mm (4.9 inches) longer and has only 50 mm (2 inches) of extra wheelbase compared to the current Tiggo 7 lineup. The C7 has largely identical dimensions.

For the powertrain, the certification files only mention a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW). It is unknown what else will be included.
