Zacoe redefines modern BMW M2 with a styling upgrade

Back in May this year, Bovensiepen – an atelier created by the founders of Alpina after its acquisition by BMW – unveiled a deluxe grand tourer with BMW M4 underpinnings. Created in a joint effort with Zagato, it had a bolstered engine and a drastically new exterior. It has now debuted at Goodwood with some important details, so let’s take a closer look.
If you struggled to identify this M4 as such, it’s really unsurprising because the car no longer has its trademark kidney grilles. Instead, it rocks a decidedly more upscale-looking grille with redesigned headlights and air intakes. The entire kit is made from carbon fiber and painted to match the body.
Modifications at the rear end boil down to the trunk lid, the quarter panels and the bumper, while the taillights stay as they are. The diffuser houses the tips of an Akrapovic exhaust system, to which the video doesn’t do much justice. It sounds fairly meh, possibly because of the driver constantly throwing short gears on the ascending Goodwood track.
Anyway, the engine under the hood is nothing if not exciting. It is still technically the stock 3.0-liter I6, but extensively tuned to deliver whopping 620 PS (611 hp / 456 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. That’s even more than the hardcore M4 CSL offers straight from the factory. And if we are speaking about the regular M4, it makes do with “just” 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft).
The Bovensiepen Zagato is slated for production, but there has been no mention of a launch date or pricing thus far.
