Unplugged Performance made ripples in the Tesla fan community several months ago when it boldly announced the “world’s first indestructible wheel” designed for the Model 3 and Model Y. It has now followed up with a new wheel design fitting the Cybertruck.
In case you forgot, the original Road Warrior wheel came rated at 950 kilograms (2,094 pounds) of sustained load. The new UP-RW Cyber set is rated at 1,450 kg (3,196 lbs) per wheel, making it sound like a prime choice for owners who actually use their electric truck for hauling heavy stuff around.
The advertisement claims the new wheel is extremely resistant to “bending, cracking and [metal] fatigue.” Curiously enough, it takes care not to use the word “indestructible” anywhere. It does mention that the upgrade wheels pair up just fine with stock tires thanks to their standard 20-inch diameter.
What’s also cool is that every rim comes shielded with a special aluminum hub cap acting as a curb guard. This cap can be quickly removed or replaced if it ends up dented, protecting the wheel. UP claims you don’t even need to remove the tire for that.
The prices are pending, but you can always leave a preorder.
