When restoring Land Rover classics, most modern auto shops put a V8 under the hood. The Lange restomod pictured above packs a stock diesel – albeit boosted by a further 42% – and has some mileage on it post-restoration. Nevertheless, Heldeburg considers it worth the $348,720 asking price.

The off-roader was originally commissioned by a Texan rancher based on a Defender 110 chassis. The company restored the body to “as-new” state and topped it with an external roll cage for some added stiffness. The front bumper was replaced with a new one complete with towing eyes, and the lighting all around was upgraded.

Major changes made it into the cabin as well, the main highlights being a modern infotainment system, a three-spoke steering wheel and premium leather upholstery in darker tones. Additional paratrooper-style seats were installed in the trunk area, increasing the passenger seat count to eight.

As for the SUV’s 300TDi mill, it was fully rebuilt and reportedly tuned by 42%. Since the original had 113 PS (111 hp / 83 kW) at its disposal, we assume the upgraded version has 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW).

Just as a side note, you could as well buy two brand-new Land Rover Defenders in the most opulent Octa spec at $160,000 each and still have money to spare.
