Singer persuades Louis Vuitton to do its first automotive collab ever

Singer Vehicle Design has secured the assistance of French fashion house Louis Vuitton in producing two ultra-deluxe restomods of the iconic Porsche 911 (964). The result is already here, so let’s take a closer look.

The white cabriolet seen in the gallery above is known as the Classic Turbo, and is a work of Nicolas Ghesquière, Creative Director for Women’s Apparel at Louis Vuitton. In turn, the naturally aspirated coupe in Saffron Yellow is known simply as the Classic, and embodies the work of multiple designers. Both make intensive use of premium leather and fashionable metallic trims that replace most OEM plastic parts in the cabin. Both also have a chronometer on the dashboard, provided by Switzerland-based La Fabrique du Temps. The timepiece is designed to be removable from its niche, meaning it doubles as a stylish pocket watch.

The exterior of the coupe looks delightfully retro with added navy-blue and yellow accents. In turn, the convertible flaunts natural wood details integrated into its body and aero kit. Louis Vuitton supplies a wide range of accessories for both cars, including style-coordinated travel bag sets, maintenance kits, and dedicated gear racks for skis and surfboards.

The Porsche 911 Classic Reimagined by Singer relies on a 4.0-liter flat-six engine tuned by Singer to deliver 390 PS (385 hp / 287 kW) in naturally aspirated form. It takes advantage of carbon-ceramic brakes for sharper handling. The Classic Turbo utilizes a 3.8-liter flat-six mill driven to 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW). Both route the torque to the rear end via a six-speed manual transmission.

Neither company has posted any pricing details. Singer’s most affordable Porsche 911 restomods tend to start north of €500,000, so we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that these cost north of a million each to produce.
