Ram is reportedly planning to expand its brand beyond trucks and commercial vans with a new SUV. This SUV could use the Ramcharger name, previously used on a truck-based SUV. The new model is expected to be related to the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, sharing its body-on-frame platform with the Ram 1500 pickup truck and the Grand Wagoneer.
While the Grand Wagoneer features an independent rear suspension, the Ramcharger is expected to borrow this setup. Entry-level versions could have coil springs at all four corners, with optional air suspension on higher trims. An off-road variant, possibly named Rebel, is also being considered, potentially featuring rugged styling and a more capable suspension, including a low-range transfer case.
The Ramcharger is expected to focus on V-8 powertrains, with a 395-hp Hemi 5.7-liter V-8 as a possible base engine and a 470-hp Hemi 6.4-liter V-8 as an upgrade. An SRT-badged performance variant is also confirmed, which could use a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. A range-extended plug-in hybrid powertrain, possibly using a V-6 as a generator, may also be offered eventually.
The Ramcharger is projected to go on sale in 2028, with pricing possibly starting around $60,000. It is expected to be built alongside the Grand Wagoneer at the Warren Truck Assembly in Michigan.
