Eccentrica, an Italy-based restomodder best known for reviving the formidable Lamborghini Diablo on modern components, has crashed the Monterey Car Week party with a roadster variant of its V12 restomod. Only 19 examples will be made, with all pricing details still pending.
Underpinning the build is a 5.7-liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine rated at 550 PS (542 hp / 405 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. It comes bundled with a six-speed manual transmission, although some of the official 3D renderings seem to suggest a five-speed gearbox. It’s probably an oversight. At any rate, Eccentrica claims it reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds and maxes out at 335 km/h (208 mph).
Extensive use of carbon fiber alongside stainless steel enables the restomod to weigh just 1,540 kilos (3,395 lbs) – a decent result if you consider its massive powertrain. The per-axle distribution of weight is 41:59 leaning towards the rear end. The admittedly gorgeous exterior is all-new, but faithful to the original in terms of proportions and thus still recognizable as a Diablo.
Other noteworthy features of the build include semi-active dual-wishbone suspension at both ends, rack-and-pinion hydraulic steering, and Brembo performance brakes at all four corners. 19-inch aftermarket wheels wrapped in Pirelli Trofeo RS rubber round off the exterior.
As for the cabin, it may actually come across as divisive, despite obviously having a strong artistic direction. Eccentrica devised a retro-style digital dash for the model, which some may like more than others. The rest of the cabin is awash with natural leather, Alcantara, anodized metal details, and carbon fiber.
