Long-awaited Kimera K39 supercar teased with an unexpected engine

Kimera Automobili, a renowned Lancia restomodder, has posted new details about its K39 model announced two years prior. It will soon debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and will participate in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb next year.

Unlike the company’s EVO37 and EVO38 projects that make do with a 2.1-liter twin-turbo four-pot, the K39 takes a step away from the Lancia design philosophy by adopting a more powerful engine. The details aren’t available yet, but the teasers make it look like a V6 or a V8. It may rub some purists the wrong way, but on the other hand, a beefier block is pretty much required if your ambition is to see the finish line of the Race to the Clouds.

As for the K39 itself, it’s been only teased under drapes so far. You can just about discern a sporty profile with a giant front splitter and a matching rear wing.

Browse to the end of the gallery above and watch the video if you want a look at the K39 as Kimera envisioned it more than two years ago. Do note that these early 3D renderings may not reflect its final appearance. The company promised us a street-legal variant of the car, though, so we hope to learn more about it when the Villa d’Este event starts next week.
