Chinese automaker Lixiang, also known as Li Auto, has conducted a facelift of its Mega minivan lineup, revising its interior, options and electric range. Here are the main details.
Although the Li Mega has barely changed on the outside, you can still tell it from the predecessor by a slightly revamped front bumper, redesigned lighting units, new wheels and some new body color options.
The interior is where things get more interesting. The dashboard is dominated by a giant 29-inch high-definition display, while the steering wheel looks much cleaner now that the screen has been removed. The seats in the back can swivel to face the middle of the passenger area, now occupied by a folding table. A 33-speaker audio system is also on board, and the ADAS package makes use of as many as four LiDARs at once.
Two e-motors jointly rated at 562 PS (554 hp / 413 kW) drive the wheels. The traction battery holds 108 kWh of electricity, but can now provide up to 710 kilometers (441 miles) of range thanks to various optimizations, Lixiang claims.
Last but not least, multiple important tweaks made it into the chassis department. The Li Mega now has active sway bars for sharper cornering and supports rear-wheel steering. It also takes advantage of a revised steer-by-wire system to make handing as precise as possible.
