Electric BMW iX4 spied lapping the ‘Ring

Based on these spy shots, Carscoops believes that the coupe-like BMW iX4 crossover gets to inherit most of its exterior and cabin from the iX3, with only a sharply raked roof to show for being a different car.

It looks like the Bavarian automaker appreciated the success of the all-electric iX3, especially its second generation, and decided not to mess with its design any further. The iX4 pictured on the Nürburgring in the gallery above has an identical-looking front fascia with the same twin-nostril grille, Neue Klasse headlights, and similar proportions. The roof is strongly slanted towards the rear end and culminates in a rather tiny tailgate topped with a spoiler. The arches seem to house new 22-inch wheels sporting a never-before-seen asymmetrical five-spoke pattern.

We don’t have any high-resolution photos of the interior to show you, but everything suggests that the layout won’t be any different from that of the iX3. As for the powertrains, the initial list actually leaked from the official BMW USA website several days ago.

According to it, the company will be pushing out the 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive variants first. The 50 xDrive will pack two e-motors rated at 469 PS (463 hp / 345 kW) and 645 Nm (476 lb-ft) of torque together. The battery pack capacity of 108.7 kWh is also identical to that of the iX3. Going 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) should take the same 4.9 seconds.

The premiere remains penciled in for the fall, and the sales are expected to start before the end of 2026. The production will be localized in Hungary, at the same plant where the iX3 is being made.
