This Suzuki Jimny fakes being a convertible

Japanese tuning company Damd has come up with an unconventional styling package for the current Suzuki Jimny. Since the compact off-roader is no longer offered as a convertible in its current generation, Slash Garnish makes it look like one – but without any practical purpose.

The plastic part gets installed onto the upper rear end of the car to make it look like it’s a removable hardtop. It’s just a trim, though, that tries to look as seamless and convincing as possible. You can order it in green, light beige or grey, or specify your own finish for a premium. A wood accent like pictured in the gallery above is also available.

The base package costs just ¥52,800 in Japan, which converts to $325 in American currency. Painting it adds the rough equivalent of $300 to the total, and the same goes for that wooden detail. Damd also lists several retro-inspired accessories for the Jimny, including a basket-shaped roof rack as depicted here.
