Tuners assist Porsche with reclaiming a North Loop record

A Porsche Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the factory-side Weissach package and an aftermarket body kit from Manthey Racing lapped the Nürburgring in 6 minutes 55.553 seconds, once again claiming the title of that track’s fastest production EV.

When it debuted in early 2024, the Taycan Turbo GT hit the ‘Ring and made a lap in 7:7.55. However, it was soon dethroned by a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. The Chinese supercar managed to complete the entire 20.8-kilometer (12.9-mile) long track in 7:4.957. It took almost a year for Porsche to finally attempt a rematch, but it was a success – thanks in no small way to Manthey, of course.

The new body kit that the tuner devised for the electric saloon consists of even wider-than-before wheel arches, lower-than-before side skirts, extremely lightweight forged wheels overlaid with air-deflecting carbon hubcaps, and a much bigger rear diffuser. The rear wing became adjustable, albeit only in manual mode.

According to the company, this aero package generates almost three times as much downforce as what the Taycan Turbo GT originally comes with. To be specific, it adds 310 kilos (683 lbs) to the weight of the car in the form of downforce at 200 km/h (124 mph) and whopping 740 kilos (1,631 lbs) at its newly attained top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph).

Those familiar with Manthey will know that the 1,033-PS (1,020-hp / 760-kW) powertrain was left untouched. That’s quite the accomplishment, considering that the now-dethroned Xiaomi SU7 Ultra had 1,548 PS (1,527 hp / 1,140 kW) at its disposal.
