A tuner builds an Audi TTS droptop that the automaker never dared to

Prominent Netherlands-based auto designer Niels van Roij and his company, Autoforma, have unveiled a stylish and classy car known as the TTS Roadster. It is a nod to the Audi TTS Roadster Concept from the mid-90s that the Ingolstadt company decided not to produce for the masses.

As it often happens with rare and desirable vehicles, aftermarket companies step in to deliver what automakers could not. The TTS Roadster seen here was built atop a regular Audi TT by removing its cloth top completely, deleting the rear spoiler and stripping the car of some of its remaining décor to keep the exterior modern and clean. Fender vents were added at the front, and the interior was retrimmed with black and brown leather.

The TT was allowed to keep its stock 1.8-liter turbo four-pot with 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW) under the hood. Same applied to the car’s six-speed manual transmission. The chassis was subtly lowered and the track was widened for a bit of added stability, and that was it.

We have no clue how much this one-off creation cost to make. Be sure to check out the video for a more detailed overview.
