Emory’s Porsche 356 restomod weigh less than a ton, goes like lightning

Broad Arrow Auctions posted a 1956 Porsche 356 for sale earlier this week – and not just any example, either, but one that underwent a complete redesign at Emory Motorsports. Once complete, it left the tuner’s premises looking like a high-end restomod and weighing just 896 kilos (1,975 lbs).

Adding to the exclusivity value of the car is the fact that it started its life as a regular coupe, and only lost its roof in 2024. Emory designed a removable hard top for it, repainted the body in Tropical Green Metallic, and put new 16-inch Monoblock wheels in matte-black into the arches.

You may think that the 2.6-liter, naturally aspirated flat-four engine under the hood stayed stock, but is far from being the case. Even though it was indeed left without any kind of forced induction, the block has nonetheless been completely rebuilt by Emory and Rothsport. Among other things, it landed with individual throttle bodies, a modern injection system and a high-flow exhaust, allowing the retro mill to push out 260 PS (256 hp / 191 kW). That’s plenty for a sporty droptop weighing under a metric ton.

Elsewhere, the listing mentions adjustable shocks in the suspension, sway bars at both ends, and disc brakes at all four corners – the original Porsche 356 had none of these, not even as optional equipment.

With only 670 kilometers (416 miles) under the hood, we’d imagine this Cabrio to be worth a pretty penny. Broad Arrow closed the listing on August 13th without any details as to the results, but earlier estimates placed the car between $550,000 and $700,000.
