The official premiere of the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser J300 has been scheduled for September 16, 2026. Unofficial reports are coming in claiming that the SUV will receive a new hybrid powertrain at the expense of losing its entry-level petrol option.
The new powertrain is going to be sourced from the technically related Lexus LX700h, Creative Trend claims quoting anonymous insiders. It will allegedly combine a 3.5-liter V6 with a single electric motor integrated into a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Lexus gets 457 PS (451 hp / 336 kW) and 700 Nm (593 lb-ft) of torque out of this setup, but the numbers may be revised for the Land Cruiser.
As an alternative, customers in Japan will still be able to purchase the standard 3.3-liter turbo diesel rated at 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. This option seems to carry over unchanged.
As for the 3.4-liter, non-electrified V6 pushing 415 PS (409 hp / 305 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels, it’s going to disappear from the lineup, Creative Trend claims. We should learn more details on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
