Winnebago produces a couple of “Beginner-Friendly RVs”

Winnebago, a U.S.-based manufacturer of camping trailers and motorhomes, has unveiled the Elora and Resa – two nearly identical recreational vehicles built on the RAM ProMaster platform. Both are billed as “beginner-friendly” and the best pick for those who would like to experience living on the move without getting tangled in the intricacies of motorhome operation and maintenance.

The company argues that too many motorhomes nowadays ship with complex control interfaces for their lighting, heating, waterworks, hydraulics and other systems. As if that wasn’t enough, their bulky exterior dimensions force drivers into a reeducation loop, while having propane tanks on board mandates following less-than-obvious safety protocols. Add the need for regular maintenance and repairs, and you might just scare off your would-be adventurers.

The Elora and the technically identical, just differently styled Resa deliver the beginners of this complexity, allowing them to embark on a trip and sort things out as they go. Both are said to handle like normal cars, class B at most, and not like your typical large camper. It helps that both are only marginally over 20 feet (6.1 meters) long and hardly any wider than a stock ProMaster, Winnebago claims.

The interior sits six people while providing long-term accommodation for four. Amenities on board include a full-fledged kitchen with all the appliances you may expect to find there, a bathroom with a shower and a WC, a dining room, and a couple of beds. A lithium battery pack supplies the electricity, and gasoline from the main tank is used for all applications that normally require propane. This gets rid of an extra layer of maintenance complexity at the expense of higher gas consumption.

You may take a closer look at the Winnebago Elora in the gallery and video above. Both models are scheduled for launch later this month, with prices in the United States starting from $153,772.
